The Steel Blue Team Roll Up Their Sleeves for a Family in Need Ahead of World Kindness Day

Steel Blue volunteer day breast cancer

Steel Blue, along with other local companies, dug deep to create the ultimate backyard makeover for a very deserving client of our breast friends, Breast Cancer Care WA. The brief was to create a fun and calming space for the client’s children to play and chill out in while going through her breast cancer treatments.

Steel Blue’s five volunteers were up for the challenge and picked up a shovel to lend a hand. The team enjoyed every moment of the experience with Ralph, Steel Blue’s IT Systems Manager sharing he wishes he was a tradie.

The project was only made possible with the assistance and donations made by local companies. With the project now completed our wonderful family was left with a low water maintenance garden including a full circle BMX track, huge artificial grass areas to play around, native plants, large trees to provide shade, veggie garden, shed with bike racks, fire pit, swing equipment and nature play.

Having joined the team less than a month before, new employee Romeo, got in the Steel Blue spirit and joined the project. Romeo said, “the day was tiring but fulfilling”.

Head of Product Development at Steel Blue, Michael Harding, also attended the volunteer day and said that it’s “remarkable what can be achieved in one day by a committed team. It was an incredibly rewarding experience being part of this community project!”

With a large grin on the face of the family members, and the children playing in their new garden, it was unbelievably rewarding for the Steel Blue team to be able to support this family through their breast cancer journey.
