Supporting Sweet Louise

With 1 in 9 women being diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, knowing the signs to look for is especially important.

Steel Blue donates $10 from every pair of Pink Boots directly to Sweet Louise, an organisation that provides practical, emotional and social support to those diagnosed with incurable breast cancer.

Steel Blue’s fundraising range of work boots includes the Pink Southern Cross® Ladies boot. Specially designed for women’s feet, the vibrant colour also offers a potential starting point for conversations about breast cancer awareness.

Supporting people affected by breast cancer.

In 2022 Steel Blue has commitment to provide breast cancer support in New Zealand through donations made to Sweet Louise.

Sweet Louise delivers vital practical, emotional and social support to New Zealanders living with incurable breast cancer.

At the heart of their service is a dedicated frontline team of Support Coordinators, experienced in oncology and palliative care, who provide personalised care. The team of Support Coordinators provides emotional care and practical support tailored to each person's needs.

Beyond this individual support, Sweet Louise creates opportunities for women to connect with others to share experiences and understanding at regular support meetings, through social events and an online support network.

Sweet Louise also helps with the everyday challenges that come with a terminal illness. They offer vouchers for essentials like petrol and groceries, or for practical support like meal deliveries or help around the home. They also provide family memory-making experiences for women with young children. These experiences bring moments of joy during an incredibly difficult journey and create memories that will be treasured forever.

Our Charity boots have raised over $2M

The initiative started in 2007, when we developed our coloured boots to support Breast Cancer Care WA. Our Charity boots have since raised over $2M for Breast Cancer Care WA. These funds have supported the development of several vital education initiatives, including:

  • A youth education program aligned with the curriculum, designed to reduce fear, build awareness, and highlight available support services

  • Online campaigns to improve community understanding of breast cancer, challenge outdated myths, and encourage people to be breast aware

  • A PhD research project focused on developing a leading national online community for people affected by breast cancer, particularly those in regional and remote areas
