Honouring Dr Ros Worthington: Pink & Purple Boots Supporting Breast Cancer Care
BCCWA was started in response to Dr Ros’ own experience with breast cancer and has become one of the State’s most successful charities. Dr Ros also established the Make-A-Wish and Love Angel Foundations, along with spearheading the HelpME campaign with Lifeline WA.
Her acknowledgements and awards include receiving the Order of Australia Medal, State Finalist Australian of the Year in 2007 & 2009 and Ernst & Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 for the WA Region.
It was at the Ernst & Young Awards that the partnership between Steel Blue and Breast Cancer Care WA started.
“From the minute we met Dr Ros, we were inspired and wanted to do what we could to support her and BCCWA. This is where the BCCWA range was born and 18 years later, it has helped raise over $2M to provide breast care nursing, practical, mental health and financial support to those impacted by breast cancer, and their loved ones,” said Ross Fitzgerald, Steel Blue Founding Director and Sales Director – APAC.
“Dr Ros was a guiding light of care, respect and integrity; an outstanding example for us all. It is a true honour we can continue her legacy through the Pink and Purple boots initiative to support the amazing work BCCWA do for the community.
