Electrical safety boots for electricians
Electricity might be invisible, but the dangers are very real. Even a minor shock can have serious consequences.
Standard work boots simply don’t offer enough protection for electricians and people working with live wires.
If that describes your work environment, then you might need electrical safety boots.
What are electrical safety boots?
Electrical safety boots are built with non-conductive materials to minimise the risk of electrical shock if you accidentally come into contact with live wires.
They are a supplementary source of protection alongside PPE in areas where electric shocks are a safety risk.
What to look for in electrical safety boots
Good electrician boots are vital safety equipment that shouldn’t be overlooked.
So, how can you tell the difference between stock-standard rubber sole boots and fit-for-purpose electrical safety boots?
The signs are there. You just need to know what to look for.
EH Outsole
Electrical safety boots are also called EH (Electrical Hazard) boots. This signifies that the Nitrile or TPU outsole meets the relevant safety standard* for electrical shock protection.
Non-conductive work boot soles reduce the wearer’s hazardous step potential. That is the voltage difference between the feet when standing or walking near an energised object.
*Safety standards vary around the world. Our EH boots meet ASTM F 2413 – EH, the most widely-used benchmark for good electrician boots. They have been rigorously tested to withstand up to 18,000 volts at 60 Hz for one minute in dry conditions.
Steel or composite toe cap
Both steel and composite toe caps offer excellent protection from falling objects, impact and crushing hazards.
Steel toe caps are incredibly strong, while composite toes are lighter, airport-friendly, and provide thermal insulation. Consider your work environment and choose the option that best suits your needs.
Our work boots are encased in non-conductive materials for peace of mind and added protection.
