Steel Blue wins WA business of the year

RISE awards - Steel Blue team

Leading Australian safety boot manufacturer, Steel Blue, has been awarded both Western Australian Business of the Year and Western Australian Medium Sized Business of the Year at the RISE Business Awards hosted by Business News. The RISE Business Awards recognise businesses for their Resourcefulness, Imagination, Sustainability, and Excellence (RISE). They are among the most prestigious awards available to businesses in Western Australia and the WA Business of the Year is the top award offered.

Steel Blue CEO, Garry Johnson, put the success of Steel Blue down to the hard work and dedication of every member of the Steel Blue team. “Everyone on our team has played an integral role in Steel Blue winning these accolades,” said Mr. Johnson.

“Over the last few years, we have faced significant challenges as a business, a community and country, including supply chain disruptions, border closures and whole industries shutting down due to the pandemic. Despite those challenges Steel Blue has thrived.

“We’ve experienced outstanding domestic and international growth, invested $2 million in local boot manufacturing for Australian defence and government contracts, developed a new brand strategy and campaign in collaboration with Wunderman Thompson, launched the world’s first graphene-enhanced work boot, and released our inaugural sustainability report which includes commitments to human rights, climate, environment, diversity and communities.

“Our top priority has always been improving worker health and wellbeing and that means making high quality boots for people who spend most of their workday on their feet."

“Our top priority has always been improving worker health and wellbeing and that means making high quality boots for people who spend most of their workday on their feet. According to independent research from Edith Cowan University our Trisole® Comfort Technology was found to be up to 40% more comfortable which can reduce fatigue and consequently increase productivity and lower the rate of injuries.

“In line with our core values of quality, care and excellence, we are leading the way with a range of initiatives and innovations. These include having a dedicated range of colourful charity boots to raise money and awareness for worthy charities, and developing ladies’ specific work boots designed for the female foot. Steel Blue is also the first safety footwear brand to offer a Comfort Guarantee, receive Australian Physiotherapy Association endorsement and earn the Scope 3 carbon neutrality certification.”
