Q: What type of toe cap do I need?

We have two main toe cap options – steel and composite. Please navigate to this page to help you choose an option best suited for your job requirements. We also do a non-safety plastic toecap, which does not provide safety benefits. All of our non-safety options can be found here.

Q: Is a steel toe cap stronger than a composite toe cap?

Both are very similar in strength, the steel and composite caps used by Steel Blue pass the Australian, European and American safety standards.

Steel caps provide more cut resistance, but stay deformed more than composite caps after impact or compression. More information on steel versus composite toe caps can be found here.

Q: Are my shoes anti-static?

Our anti-static boots are denoted on the license label by any of the following symbols ‘A’, ‘O1, ‘O2’, ‘O3’, ‘S1’, ‘S2’ or ‘S3’. The electrical resistance of footwear should be tested at the beginning of each shift as the resistance can deteriorate with sole wear and moisture.

Q: What safety standards do Steel Blue boots adhere too?

All Steel Blue boots with a safety toe cap are independently certified to three major international safety standards:

Q: What type of sole do I need?

We have two sole options – TPU and Nitrile. Please navigate to this page to help you choose an option best suited for your job requirements.

Q: What soles are better for welders?

nitrile outsole is better for wedlers as the nitrile outsole will guard against short term (60 second) hot contact with welders slag. 

Q: Which Steel Blue boots have penetration resistant sole?

Q: Do you still manufacture in Australia?

We are a WA born and bred brand. Our products are produced both in Australia and our dedicated factory in Indonesia. 

Q: Will a Black boot be hotter to wear than a Wheat one?

There is no difference in the colours due to the Baltico® lining used in our boots. The Baltico® lining is designed to wick perspiration away from the foot which in turn causes the foot to stay cool and dry.

Q: How can I convert Steel Blue boots sizes from UK to EURO and vice versa?

Q: How do I look after my suede boots?

For Nubuck or Suede leathers, clean by brushing off loose dirt using a Suede brush (suede brushes have fine brass bristles).

Q: How should I store my Steel Blue boots that I’m not wearing currently?

Do not store in cupboard or dark/humid conditions. When you are not wearing your Steel Blues (if this happens) try and do the below:

- Store your boots in a cool dry spot
- If your boots are stored away for extended periods how about showing them some love by taking them for a walk twice a month to keep them fit and healthy

Q: What can I do to help protect my new boots leather?

Clean any dirt, mud or contaminates off after each shift with soft brush or damp cloth. Use dubbin, Steel Blue renovating polish or water proofer before use. Do not over wet and do not force dry. Please find more boot care tips here.

Q: Can I stick my soles back on?

All Steel Blue products use a direct injection process to attach the soles. If the sole somehow becomes detached it is recommended to replace the boots.

Q: Why are my soles falling apart?

If boots are stored in dark / humid conditions for a prolonged period the sole compound deteriorates. It is better to wear your boots regularly.

Q: How can I make my boots last longer?

Dubbin and boot polish will extend the life of the leather and help the boots look newer for longer. It will repel water and keep the leather from drying out in warmer conditions.

Q: How can I dry my wet boots?

To dry wet boots remove footbed stuff with newspaper place in a warm position away from direct sun or direct radiated heat.

Q: How do I stop wearing out the leather at the front of my boots, exposing the toe cap?

On your next pair, try a Steel Blue boot with a bump cap. Our bump caps are designed to protect the leather on the toe from wearing to expose the steel cap. This will stop premature wearing on your boots and allow you to wear them for longer before replacing.

Q: What is Steel Blue’s six month manufacturer’s warranty?

We only use premium manufacturing technology to ensure your work boots are built to last. However, if you do have a manufacturing issue with your footwear (and it has been correctly fitted and maintained) the six month manufacturer's warranty will ensure your boots are replaced or refunded. Any claim under this warranty must be made within 6 months of the date of purchase of the product.

Q: What is covered under this warranty?

The six month manufacturer's warranty includes defects in material and construction (where sold in manufacturer's condition).

Q: How do I claim the six month manufacturer’s warranty?

You will need to take a copy of your proof of purchase (receipt) back to the place of purchase in order to obtain an exchange or refund.

Q: What is Steel Blue’s 30 Day Money Back Comfort Guarantee?

Through one of our authorised resellers, we will provide you with a full refund (or replacement to the same value) if your Steel Blue product is correctly fitted and proves to be uncomfortable within 30 days of date of purchase.

Q: How do I claim the 30 Day Money Back Comfort Guarantee?

You will need to take a copy of your proof of purchase (receipt) back to the place of purchase in order to obtain an exchange or refund.

Q: Do I need to keep my receipt?

Yes, it is important to keep your receipt as a proof of purchase when wishing to claim on our warranties. Some stores keep your records on file, but not all of them. So to be safe please keep a copy of your receipt.
