Steel Blue step up to protect Foodbank Bunbury volunteers.

Foodbank Bunbury volunteers - Steel Blue

Foodbank Bunbury is keeping its most valuable assets safe, with staff and volunteers now wearing steel-capped boots donated by Steel Blue.

Foodbank WA has an ongoing friendship with Swan Districts Football Club and as a major sponsor of Bunbury’s favourite team, Steel Blue was keen to step up, boots and all.

Volunteers say the boots are warm and flexible, and by all accounts they look very smart. Carol Hearn, Manager of Foodbank Bunbury says she’s very pleased to be able to put safety first for our precious people.

“I want to say a great big thank you to Steel Blue. Our goal is to have all our volunteers in steel caps. It’s part of our overall commitment to safety here at Foodbank WA.”

Working at Foodbank WA sometimes calls for an extra level of toughness. The warehouse can be chilly in winter, particularly for those working in refrigerated zones. As an unexpected bonus, staff and volunteers have reported they no longer feel the cold coming up from the concrete floor.

Foodbank WA’s Bunbury branch offers food relief to the local community and sends food hampers to community groups from Manjimup to Waroona. The branch also supports school breakfast programs, providing supplies for 58 regional and remote schools.

“These are the best boots I’ve ever had” Ms Hearn said, “They’re very comfortable. In fact, I’m going to buy a pair for my husband to wear to work!”
