ELECTRICAL HAZARD

These safety shoes meet the requirements of ASTM F2413-11 Clause 5.5

Designed and manufactured to be used as a secondary source of electrical hazard protection against the hazards of coming into contact with live electrical circuits, electrically charged conductors, parts or apparatus.

Footwear marked as EH has been tested and shown to withstand the application of 18,000 V at 60 Hz for a period of 1 minute with no current flow or leakage in excess of 1.0 mA in dry laboratory conditions.

EH safety boots should not be worn in explosive or hazardous areas where conductive or anti-static footwear is required.

Caution: EH protection is severely deteriorated in the following conditions :
•             Excessive wear of the soling material or exposure to wet and humid environments or both.
•             Where footwear becomes contaminated with conductive materials. For example, soles can pick up metal shavings, etc., which may reduce the effectiveness of the protection

Important : EH safety shoes should not be used as the primary source of protection in an electrical hazard environment.

Boots with ELECTRICAL HAZARD technology

Our ELECTRICAL HAZARD technology will provide the following:

Designed to reduce the flow of electricity, therefore reducing the possibility of electrocution
EH Boots are not designed to be the primary source of protection in an Electrical Hazard environment
If there’s a chance you’ll step on live electric wires should choose our Electrical Hazard work boots.
Electrical shock resistance deteriorates rapidly in a wet environment and in wear.

Electrical Hazard Safety Shoes

Catering to individual requirements, all Steel Blue work boots are made with the wearer in mind and a focus on safety safety footwear industry and ensure that there is a Steel Blue boot available to suit any workplace, industry or environment. Our Steel Blue safety shoes for men include a range of ankle boots, high leg boots and shoes.

All Steel Blue boots are thoroughly tested to ensure that they meet or exceed major international safety standards, including Australian / New Zealand, American and European standards. The Steel Blue 150mm Torquay Ankle Boot is available with specialised Electrical Hazard protection features. Designed and manufactured to be used as a secondary source of Electrical Hazard protection, the Torquay EH is a men's safety boot that includes specific boot technology components to adapt to these specialised conditions.

The Torquay EH has been designed to reduce the flow of electricity, therefore assisting to reduce the possibility of accidental electrocution. These men’s safety boots meet the requirements of ASTM F2413-11 (Clause 5.5) and have been tested to withstand the application of 18,000 vaults at 60 hertz for a period of one minute, without any flow or leakage in excess of 1.0 milliampere in dry laboratory conditions.

With a padded tongue and scalloped collar for ease of movement, the Torquay EH is a men’s 150mm lace-up work boot that is ideal for Electricians, Refrigeration Mechanics and Power Operators. Offering a range of boot technology features, the Torquay EH incorporates a zip side for easy on and easy off, along with Water Resistant technology, a Mako Toe Guard for extra protection and is finished with a sturdy Nitrile Outsole.

The Composite Safety Toe Cap used within the Torquay EH is lightweight and will not rust. The non-metallic Composite Safety Toe Cap used in these men’s safety boots is 40% lighter in weight than a Steel Toe Cap and provides excellent thermal regulation against heat and cold.

The highly resilient Composite Toe Cap used in these men’s safety boots is electrically non-conductive. Offering protection against spark ignition, the Composite Toe Cap is tough and prevents injury from falling objects at a drop force of 200 joules. When compared with a Steel Toe Cap, the Composite Toe Cap incorporated into the Steel Blue work boot range of men's safety boots has a better recoil after impact or compression.

Specifically fitted with a tough Nitrile Outsole for extreme conditions, the outsole of the Torquay EH can withstand temperatures of up to 300°C. At these high-temperatures, the Chemical Resistant Nitrile Outsole performs at the highest level to assist in keeping you safe. The tough and durable Nitrile Outsole used in Steel Blue boots is made from rubber that is resistant to oil and acid. Premium slip resistant technology is also incorporated into the outsole and offers superior cut and tear resistance.

The Torquay Electrical Hazard boot is lined with Spacer Mesh® which is a soft material that wicks moisture or perspiration away from the foot in order for it to remain cool and dry. The exterior of the Torquay EH is stitched with tough nylon thread and fashioned from premium Water Resistant waxy black New Zealand Leather.

The non-corrosive laces of the Torquay EH can be used to ensure a comfortable and secure fit. These can remain tied while the quick Zip Side release feature saves time and allows for easy on / easy off. The Velcro tab is an additional safety feature to keep the zip in place and cease any zip rattle while hard at work.

The full length soft polyurethane footbed that forms part of all Steel Blue safety shoes for men offers additional support from heel to toe. Retaining its shape and thickness throughout the working life of the boot, this comfort feature supports the arch of the foot and assists to reduce day-to-day foot fatigue. The footbed integrated into the Steel Blue range of work boots is both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.

Combining specialised safety features with our unique soling system to ensure 100% Comfort, the Torquay Electrical Hazard boot has been purposely built to adapt to specific work environments. Important: Our non-conductive footwear is designed to reduce the hazards due to accidental contact with live electrical circuits, electrically energized conductors or parts of apparatus up to 600 volts (AC). These Steel Blue shoes are clearly marked and have a distinct yellow colour plug in the rubber sole. This footwear is not suitable where anti-static properties are needed. Note: EH Series footwear is intended for use as secondary protective personal equipment. It is to be used in conjunction with primary protective equipment in areas and environments where there is a need to reduce the risk of electric shock due to accidental contact with live electric wires. EH Series: Electric Shock Resistant: 18000 volts at 60 Hz for 1 minute in dry conditions, leakage current of less than 1 milliamperes. Meets requirements for American Standard ASTM F 2413 - EH.

Warning: EH protection is severely deteriorated in the following conditions:

·       Excessive wear of the soling material or exposure to wet and humid environments or both.

·       Where footwear becomes contaminated with conductive materials. For example, soles can pick up metal shavings, etc., which may reduce the effectiveness of the protection

·       EH shoes should not be used as the primary source of protection in an electrical hazard environment.

·       EH shoes should not be worn in explosive or hazardous areas where conductive or anti-static footwear is required.
